**READ THROUGH BEFORE SIGNING-UP (and ensure you check your meet-up chat regularly :-) )** Can't think about a better way to wrap up the week then kayaking around the city channels. GreenKayak, a NGO dedicated to raise awareness to ocean pollution, makes few (open) kayaks available across the city to paddle and help collecting waste floating in the water. Open kayaks are typically easier to manovre than other types, and do not require EPP2/EPP3 patents. I booked 2 double kayaks for 4 ppl in total. It is possible to use the facilities at Kayak Republic free of charge: restrooms, lockers and showers. **REQUIREMENT** \- Safety first \- Need to be able to swim comfortably \- Waterproof gear preferable \- Sun lotion and sunglasses \- Change of clothes in case yours get a bit wet during paddling \- Towel\, if you want to shower or just in case **COST** Unfortunately, due to the frequent last minute cancellation last summer, it was challenging backfilling participants with short or no notice, and it was very disrespectful to the group and GreenKayak NGO. **To reserve your spot, please transfer 150 kr. to my mobilepay 25717293**. The amount will be returned to you if you show up on time, or the event is cancelled for other reasons; **this remains a free non-profit event**. The kayak rental is free of charge provided that: \- we are able to pick\-up some waste during our paddling activity \- we share our experience on the So\.Me \#GreenKayak **AGENDA** 16:50- Meet up - please be on time 🙂 16:50-17:00 Briefing and getting ready 17-00-18:45 Paddling around Copenhagen channels and return to the start point 18:45-19:00 Return the equipment to Kayak Republic **DISCOMFORT LEVEL** \- 3/5 **TO LEARN MORE** [GreenKayak](https://www.greenkayak.org/)

Nightwood by Djuna Barnes
Nightwood by Djuna Barnes
Thanks to everyone who joined for our latest discussion of *Zorba the Greek* by Nikos Kazantzakis yesterday. It was wonderful to see both familiar and new faces, and I hope you all had a meaningful and enjoyable conversation. The next book to read is *[Nightwood](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightwood)* (1936) by [Djuna Barnes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Djuna_Barnes). Set primarily in Paris during the interwar years, *Nightwood* follows a group of deeply entangled characters navigating love, obsession, longing, identity, and loss. Dark, poetic, and psychologically intense, the novel has become one of the defining works of literary modernism. A short description of the book reads: *Widely regarded as a modernist masterpiece, Nightwood explores desire, alienation, gender, and emotional dependency through some of the most lyrical and haunting prose of the twentieth century. It is also considered one of the earliest major novels to openly portray same-sex love between women.* You can read more about the book [here](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53101.Nightwood) and listen to it as an audiobook [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoAM5_gJNZw): Although *Nightwood* has never had a major film adaptation, the novel has had a profound literary influence. Writers such as T. S. Eliot, who helped edit and publish the book, praised its style and originality, and it has since become a cult classic within both modernist and queer literary history. For other resources on how to get a hold of classic books, please see the *[About](https://www.meetup.com/copenhagen-classic-book-book-club/)* section on the front page of the group. We meet up on **Saturday, June 13th, at 4 p.m.** The location will once again be the [Garden of the Royal Library](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Library_Garden,_Copenhagen). During the spring and summer months, we always meet outside here. If the weather turns rainy, we will simply move indoors. Please remember to bring your suggestion for the next classic book to read. And, as always, please be mindful and respectful of each other, so that everyone feels welcome and appreciated. In the meantime, happy reading/listening — or however you prefer to do it.

Shut Up & Write!™ Copenhagen
Shut Up & Write!™ Copenhagen
Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at our Copenhagen Shut Up & Write! sessions. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, résumé, melody, poem, or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: - 15 minutes of hellos and getting settled; maybe some quick intros. - Then, the timer starts! : writing for 1 hour. - After the hour is up... chat / take off / keep writing, if you're on a roll. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens once the hour of writing is complete. Writing can be very solitary... connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. It's best to be on time, but BEING LATE IS ALSO OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check in with us after the session. (We’ll be the ones with the small Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. What Should I Bring? Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.
Softer Dating - 35-55
Softer Dating - 35-55
**Summer Flavours & The Art of Embodied Dating** \- \(Age 35\-55\)\* As the summer heat slowly starts to build, we invite you to another round of Softer Dating! [Tickets through House of Play](https://www.houseofplay.dk/special-events/softer-dating-1) Dating can often times feel very “heady” and intellectual. We think about what to say, try to be funny etc. but by doing that we miss out on a bunch of other juicy and good stuff! This is for you, if you are ready to explore new ways of being in connection beyond the regular small-talk. The thing is, our bodies are incredibly good at understanding what they like and dislike. While the mind is busy making up stories, the body, already senses what is happening in this moment. In this event you are invited to allow your body to lead your experience. *Words and thoughts get to take a little break tonight.* You won’t have to think about what to say next, what to share in order to fill the silence. You get full permission to be in the body, and we will guide you into that space. **WHAT YOU'LL TAKE WITH YOU** Beyond the evening itself, many people leave with: * **New ways of connecting** - discovering forms of interaction that go beyond talking * **Greater body awareness** - more in touch with your own body, your yes, and no * **Self-knowledge** - understanding yourself more deeply through experience rather than analysis * **Confidence** - both in social spaces and in honoring your own boundaries * **A shifted perspective** - on how you approach people and relationships going forward You'll learn to take responsibility for your own experience, developing the skill and ability to shape what happens rather than waiting for the other person to create it. This often translates into presence, a quality that serves you far beyond dating. **THE EVENING** **Part 1: Embodied Moments of connection** You’ll meet a range of people through short, guided one-on-one experiences. By removing the pressure of choosing, we create space to simply be present and curious. Consent is explicit throughout. All exercises are invitations, you can always choose to do less or observe. **Part 2: Guided exploration with choice** As the group has landed and found comfort together, you now choose freely who you want to connect with. We’ll explore connection through: • Moving your body (dance, movement) • Mindful touch (soft, consensual) • Curious conversations • Observation & rest (take a break anytime) Touch and closeness may arise, if desired. The atmosphere is intimate but not sexual. No nudity, no pressure. PS: We don’t share the specific exercises in advance for a couple of reasons: to keep the surprise; because what we do depends on the group’s energy. See it as an invitation to trust and stay curious! [Tickets through House of Play](https://www.houseofplay.dk/special-events/softer-dating-1) **WHO IS THIS FOR?** People aged 35-55 looking for meaningful connections. Any gender expression, style of relating, and sexual preference welcome. **DO I NEED EXPERIENCE?** No! Beginners are very welcome. **DO I NEED TO BRING A PARTNER?** No, though it might be nice to bring a friend! **TICKETS** 280 kr for members 350 kr for non-members We offer a 20% discount to students and low income. Discounts cannot be used on top of other discounts. Please reach out to [info@houseofplay.dk](mailto:info@houseofplay.dk) [Buy Ticket](https://www.houseofplay.dk/special-events/softer-dating-1) Tickets are non-refundable. Be sure to read our cancellation policy and no-show fee [here](https://www.houseofplay.dk/terms-and-conditions) **CODE OF CONDUCT** Please read our [Code of Conduct](https://www.houseofplay.dk/code-of-conduct) before attending 1 of 4 Chilies 🌶️ Read about our chili system [here](https://www.houseofplay.dk/chili-system) **QUESTIONS?** *What if I don’t like an exercise?* You can observe instead. We encourage people to take care of their boundaries—it happens and we think it’s wonderful. *What if I feel awkward?* Awkwardness and shyness are welcome. You don’t need to pretend. Most people relax naturally after some time. *What about the gender ratio?* We can’t guarantee your preference will be there, but so far we’ve had a wide, colorful distribution of genders! *What if I’m paired with someone I don’t find attractive?* Softer Dating is about connection, not just romance. Can you bring respect and curiosity, even if there’s no spark? Also, know that you can always step out. **ABOUT THE FACILITATOR** Hi, I’m Philipp (call me Pyt). I’ve been creating intimate events and workshops for years because I love creating spaces where people can unfold and enjoy themselves. I work as a life coach and kink facilitator. Speak Easy (Storytelling)
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for June is "Roadtrip" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
Columbus Comedy Improv Meetup at Gresso's!
Columbus Comedy Improv Meetup at Gresso's!
Whether you've never done improv before, or you've done it for so long you were quoted in *Truth in Comedy*, or anywhere in between, come join us! Swing by *Gresso's* for the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup**! The idea behind improvised comedy is to create entire scenes from scratch. A suggestion is taken from the audience and laughter is built on the spot. This can be done in game form, like *Whose Line Is It Anyway, Make Some Noise,* or *Wild 'n Out*; it can also be done in a longer way, to tell a complicated story, like *TJ & Dave*. Our meetup, which is central Ohio's longest running (and FREE!) weekly comedy event, brings the games for you to play in a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment. Afterward, many members will hang out in *Gresso's* itself and get to know each other. Not only is this a lot of fun, but you get to work on thinking faster on your feet, your public speaking, plus it's an excellent way to meet new people and build relationships that will last a lifetime, and you do that while laughing your butt off! Ask yourself if you want to join the **Columbus Improv Comedy Meetup**, and say "*Yes, And*" that you'll have a blast!
"Metal Slinger" by Rachel Schneider
"Metal Slinger" by Rachel Schneider
Join us as we discuss our June pick: Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider! Book description: Even though she's not one of them, Brynn has spent her life among the Alaha, training to be a guard and waiting for the chance to attend the annual market hosted by the Kenta–the very same people who exiled her adopted community to a life at sea. Going to the market is a rite of passage eagerly anticipated by all young guards, but Brynn does not anticipate breaking a century-long peace treaty while there. Nor does she plan for the intense encounter with an enemy soldier that now threatens to unwind the fragile coexistence between their people–and everything Brynn once believed about herself to be true. Brynn's loyalty to the Alaha is tested when the truth of her identity is brought to light by this soldier who's taken an oath to bring her back to where she belongs. Narrowly escaping death on the violent high seas, Brynn's connection to the Alaha is further tested when she learns about the world of magic she's been denied. She was once certain of her fate and where she belonged, but the dark, knowing eyes of this stranger have her questioning everything, including her heart. Packed with knife fights and seafaring adventure, METAL SLINGER is the smash-hit start to the romantic fantasy duology, the Fire & Metal series
Columbus Book Club: The Secret History
Columbus Book Club: The Secret History
**📔 Books and Banter: The Secret History by Donna Tartt • All Readers Welcome** Come and join us to open up a conversation about this month's pick, The Secret History by Donna Tartt with people who just enjoy a good back-and-forth, and no two nights ever play out the same. Reading ahead is great but not required, and bring whatever section you're itching to discuss, and bring your scribbled notes — because what you clocked is exactly what someone else sailed past. Everything's fair game for debate — with the discussion built entirely from what people bring, and the energy tends to build as the evening goes on. Every night is a fine first night — and the group is an easy one to slot into, all you need is yourself and an opinion, and the night usually ends with people wanting to keep going. --- **What the session looks like:** - Arrive, grab a seat, and say hi if you're new — no icebreakers, just talk - Talk opens on a first question and flows on from there, no set agenda - Near the end there's a chance to pitch the next read **What helps:** - Your copy of the book, paper or screen - Bookmarks or sticky notes on your favourite bits - Curiosity and patience for other readings - Something warm to drink if the mood takes you ⭐ *"Honestly the best hour of my month — the takes were nothing like mine, and that was the whole point"* – regular 💡 **Before you come:** mark the passage you reckon the table will pounce on, since a single flagged scene beats a vague impression, and the group makes it easy from that first line on. --- 🗯️ Come for the book, stay for the discussion — join us and bring your read and the discussion takes it from there. The talk starts when you arrive. 🗯️

On Thursday, June 18, 2026, we will meet in the 700N Conference Room at 700 N Hurstbourne Pkwy for a special Louisville .NET Meetup as we host **Microsoft Build //localhost:louisville**. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the presentation will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. TEKsystems will provide food, so please RSVP to help us plan appropriately. The session will also be streamed at **[https://twitch.tv/TaleLearnCode](https://twitch.tv/TaleLearnCode)**. This month, we’ll dive into the most important announcements from **Microsoft Build 2026**. Chad Green will present a curated, developer‑focused walkthrough of the new capabilities across .NET, Azure, AI, developer tooling, and platform updates. We’ll explore what these announcements mean for architects and developers, how they fit into real‑world solutions, and which changes you can start applying immediately in your projects. And then, Rob Richardson will present: ### **GitOps: Easy Deploy and Even Easier Rollback** GitOps isn't just for containers. The methodology of deploying from a build is now baked into our culture. Take it a touch farther with infrastructure as code and a few extra techniques, and you can reliably deploy to any platform: cloud, on-prem, container, PaaS, and more. Join us as we learn the methodology of GitOps, the critical pieces you need in place, and the elegance of rollbacks with GitOps. You'll leave with a working repo of deployment techniques that doesn't consume any paid tools or container-specific techniques. **Important:** To participate fully, please RSVP in **both** places: * **Louisville .NET Meetup** (this page) * **Microsoft Build //localhost:louisville registration**: [https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/reactor/events/27112/](https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/reactor/events/27112/) After the session, we’ll head to Brick House Tavern to continue the conversation over food and drinks.
