🌱 Root Yourself with Routine
Session 2: Learning From the Experiment

We know that building routines can be challenging for ADHD brains. But what happens when we finally create a system that seems promising...and then it doesn't quite work the way we hoped?

Or maybe it works beautifully for a few days, only to become harder to maintain.

Does that mean we failed? That the system failed? That we need to start all over again?

Not necessarily! πŸ’›

In our first session, we explored why routines can feel so difficult, identified areas of friction in our everyday lives, and began building small systems designed to support our wonderfully neurosparkly brains.

Now it's time to see what we can learn from those experiments!

🌿 What We'll Explore Together

During this session, we'll:

  • Reflect on our experiments: What worked? What didn't? What surprised us?
  • Look for patterns: Where did friction show up? What made things easier or harder?
  • Explore support systems: What helped us remember, get started, and follow through? What support might be missing?
  • Make adjustments: Identify small changes that could make our systems more manageable, flexible, and sustainable.
  • Plan our next experiment: Choose something to try before we meet again!

And perhaps most importantly, we'll explore how to approach our experiences with curiosity rather than judgment.

Because a routine that needs adjusting isn't necessarily a failed routine. Sometimes, it's simply a system that's teaching us what we need.

✍️ A Little Hands-On Exploration

We'll also spend some time working through a guided reflection handout to help us recognize patterns, identify helpful supports, and consider small adjustments to our systems.

You don't need to have all the answers, and there's no pressure to finish everything during our time together. The handout is yours to continue exploring afterward!

🌿 A Little About This Series

Root Yourself with Routine is an ongoing series designed to help adults with ADHD explore, develop, and refine routines and systems that work with their brains rather than against them.

Each session focuses on a different aspect of building supportive, sustainable systems. While sessions may build upon previous material, you're welcome to join us at any point in the series!

  • If you attended Session 1: Bring your observations from the system you experimented with. Whether it worked beautifully, fell apart, or you completely forgot about it, there's something we can learn from the experience!
  • If you're joining us for the first time: You're absolutely welcome! We'll provide enough context to help you participate, and you'll have an opportunity to identify an area of friction and begin developing your own experiment. Just know that we won't be reteaching the entire first session

πŸ’– A Gentle Reminder

We're not here to build perfect routines or become perfectly consistent humans.

We're here to better understand ourselves, recognize what helps, and develop systems that make everyday life a little easier.

Progress over perfection. Curiosity over judgment.
Learn your brain. Love yourself. πŸ’›
