Pianist Lestari Scholtes and the Melisma Saxophone Quartet join forces for a spectacular, energetic, and swinging programme. Featuring Gershwin's vibrant Cuban Overture, the captivating melodies from Porgy and Bess, and the ironic sounds of Weill's The Threepenny Opera, the concert sets the stage for an unforgettable afternoon. The highlight is Gershwin's iconic Rhapsody in Blue—an irresistible fusion of classical music and jazz, in which the unique combination of piano and saxophones brings a fresh new dimension to this timeless masterpiece.

This concert is for free. We ll meet at 11:20 hour at the large entrance of the Van Eeghenstraat close to venue in the Vondelpark and walk to the it from there. We ll meet early to make sure that we have good spots and you can
recognize me by my yellow cap.

Afterwards everyone can join me for a drink at the venue.

The National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam is one of the most interesting museums in the city. It is located in a historic building from the seventeenth century, which was originally used as a warehouse for the Dutch navy. The museum tells the story of the Netherlands and its long relationship with the sea. Visitors can see old maps, paintings, ship models, navigation instruments and other maritime objects. Outside the museum is a replica of the Amsterdam, an eighteenth-century sailing ship. Visitors can go aboard and discover what life was like on a large trading ship centuries ago.

In Transcripts of a Sea, photographer Stephan Vanfleteren shares the enchantment that has literally driven him out to sea over the past five years. With a dangerous obsession and palpable longing, Stephan Vanfleteren analyses the sea in all its forms and lighting conditions. Along the coastline from northern France to the southern Netherlands, he sought out places where waves and swells manifest themselves as unpredictable wonders.
