Introduction to Star Trails Photography Workshop
A Star Trail is a type of photograph that uses long exposure times to capture diurnal circles, the apparent motion of stars in the night sky due to Earth's rotation.
The Intent of this workshop is to introduce Star Trails Photography to photographers with little or no experience in this field. If you are familiar with and/or experienced in Star Trails photography, this workshop probably is not for you.
The Workshop will consist of three Sessions.
Session One will be a class on how to photograph star trails. We will meet at Panara Bread - located at 2285 Ulmerton Road, Clearwater, Florida. We will discuss gear, locations, time of day-month-year, weather conditions, apps & software and many other factors and tools that can affect the outcome of your captures. We will also discuss the specifics of this workshop.
Session Two will be an on-location photoshoot. There will be several possible locations for the field trip. The reason for this is the weather. The possible locations will be in South Florida, between Naples and Homestead. I will make the decision on the exact location several days before the trip, and I will inform all the field trip participants. However, as I monitor the weather, the location could be changed as little as several hours before the event. For this reason, I will be staying overnight in Everglades City. At either the Everglades City Motel or The Ivey House. Everglades City is a somewhat centralized location in South Florida.
Session Three will be a post processing session at Panera. We will go through my techniques of editing in Lightroom as well as stacking in a stacking program and blending in Photoshop.
The classroom sessions of the workshop will be open to all Art of Photography members. The fieldtrip session of the workshop will be limited to eight participants on a first-come basis.
Fees:
· Free – to anyone attending either or both classroom sessions of the workshop only.
· $25.00 – for those attending the fieldtrip portion. You must RSVP and the fee must be paid by the end of the first class (cash, check, Zello). There are no refunds unless the field trip is canceled due to the weather.
Each participant is responsible for their safety and properly operating their photographic equipment. Event hosts and sponsors are exempt from all liability or responsibility whatsoever for all personal injury, property damage, or wrongful death, however, caused, including but not limited to property liability or the released parties' negligence, whether passive or active. Each participant must use their judgment regarding safety.
