What we’re about

Hello everyone! Thank you for your interest in The Art of Photography - Tampa/St. Pete Chapter.
We are a Community for Fine Art Photography from the Tampa Bay area and beyond.

The purpose of The Art of Photography - Tampa/St. Pete Chapter is to help you elevate your creative and artistic skills and then translate those skills into compelling photographic work.

We do this by

Sharing our work with our members
Providing constructive commentary and critiques
Offering weekly photography review sessions (online)
Offering photography and post-processing classes (online)
Organizing interesting photo shoots
Conducting photo contests and challenges

All of our activities are FREE of charge and offered by our members - people like you and me who want to share their passion for artistic photography.

Hitting the Road – Part 1
Just in time for the summer travel season, Chuck Campbell is returning with another lighthearted presentation we are calling “Hitting the Road - Part 1”. In this presentation Chuck will discuss creating your photo agenda, preparing your equipment packing list, juggling photography with family responsibilities, and getting the shots you love.
Whether your vacation is a local road trip or heading cross country or beyond, you are sure to find something helpful in Chuck’s presentation. The presentation will take place on Monday April 29th at 7:00pm. Once you RSVP, you will be able to see the Zoom link for the presentation. Please feel free to share the Zoom link with your friends or have a family viewing party. This presentation works best with a large bowl of popcorn.
In May (date TBD), for the hands-on Part 2 of this presentation, we will practice the steps discussed in Part 1 and photograph a Tampa/St Pete area as if we were tourists seeing it for the first time. After that, you should be ready to Hit the Road anywhere across the world and come home with some great images.

Join us for an in depth presentation of Fine Art Photography from Martin Osner, a renowned South African artist, gallery owner, photographer and educator. Interestingly, many of us will relate to this story and journey. As an instructor of Fine Art Photography he shares the same principals of art and design that we incorporate in The Art of Photography with his students in South Africa.

In this presentation he speaks to his desire and struggle, always yearning to be an artist and creator of fine art photography but at the same time feeling trapped in his craft as a commercial photographer. Haven't we all heard this wonderful story before?

"So what is Fine Art Photography?" Osner sees this as a process, wherein photography and the camera play their part in the creation of high level art. He presents an enlightening and in-depth discussion to answer this fundamental but complicated question. In addition, as a respected artist and gallery owner, Martin Osner offers valuable advice and guidance on how to embark on your personal journey into the world of Fine Art Photography.
