RUBELL MUSEUM MIAMI PHOTO CHALLENGE – SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2023 @ 11:30 AM

Join us for this exceptional photoshoot sponsored by The Art of Photography International. Our purpose is to gather our members and partake in a unique occasion, to “challenge” their artistic muse and create distinctive photographic images in this especially artistic and inspirational museum.

Originally launched in 1993 as the Rubell Family Collection, the institution was renamed the Rubell Museum. It houses and exhibits contemporary works by emerging & established artists displayed in a repurposed DEA warehouse. The Museum experience unfolds on a single level floor, with 36 galleries, a flexible performance space, an extensive research library, a bookstore, and an indoor-outdoor Basque restaurant LEKU, that opens onto a courtyard garden filled with plants native to South Florida. The Rubells created their collection by looking at art, talking with artists, and trusting their instincts. They started collecting 58 years ago when Don was in medical school and Mera was teaching at Head Start, and continue to follow the same practice today, now with their son Jason. They acquired their first work after a studio visit and were only able to do so by paying on a modest weekly installment plan.

Submit your best images to the RUBELL MUSEUM MIAMI PHOTO CHALLENGE ALBUM to be created for this event. You can post three (3) of your photographs from the event. The deadline to post will be 7:00 PM on Friday September 22nd. One BEST photo from the meetup album entries will become the permanent cover for the event. The name of the winning photographer will also be displayed on the album cover. There will not be any honorable mentions. Photos must be taken on September 16th at the Rubell Museum Miami.
