>>> Event canceled due to the event host's sudden illness. <<<
Join Diane Klein for a revisit of this popular and leisurely walk through the Worth Avenue area, known world-wide as a unique and historic district. Worth Avenue is the heart of beautiful Palm Beach, with its flower-strewn passageways and European-style courtyard cafes.
It was here, in the early 20th century, that Addison Mizner designed the distinctive "Mizner" style of Spanish and Mediterranean buildings, estates, and courtyards, which left its stamp throughout Florida, and is particularly characteristic of Palm Beach.
We will pass art galleries and designer shops, restaurants and cafes, where you may see clothing models, such as the one above, wending their way through the passageways, advertising haute couture fashion. And, for the anthropologically minded, there is a likelihood of spotting rich and possibly famous examples of Palm Beach society in their natural habitat.
Diane will give you the benefit of her particular style of fine art street photography, directing you towards potential subjects. At the same time, she will acquaint you with the principles of design in photography, as illustrated in the subjects you pass on the walk. The more you learn to recognize and employ these principles, the more they will become part of your unconscious compositional tool kit, and the more complex and interesting your photos will become.
Note: Consider this outing "A Day in Palm Beach." First, there is Palm
Beach itself, with so many unique photo opportunites. (Please see the list below). We usually have lunch after the walk in Al Fresco's Pizza, which is reasonably priced with a full menu of salads, sandwiches and Italian dishes, and yet it is a lovely outdoor cafe in one of the alleys we will see off Worth Avenue. In fact, the photo above was taken of a model who drifted through the restaurant during lunch.
The Breakers Hotel is a destination in itself. The Society of the Four Arts sculpture garden on your exit from the Island should not be missed. And then, the beautiful residential areas are worth exploring by car. Finally, give yourself a few extra minutes for a drive south on AIA, with the ocean on your left shoulder and the mansions on your right; continuing on through the arching canopy of pines that grace the highway near Delray; and on through Boca.

Additional photographic sites to explore on your own in Palm Beach:
- The Gardens at the Society of the Four Arts. (Highly recommended)
- The Coral Clock at the foot of Worth Ave. where it meets S. Ocean Blvd.
- The Breakers Hotel (free parking in the lot on the right as you enter the grounds)
- The Flagler Museum
- The Bethesda by the Sea Church
- The Royal Poinciana Plaza (an elegant shopping and dining plaza)
Other suggestions for photography in Palm Beach:
- Drive around the residential streets of Palm Beach.
- See Mizner period mansions behind 30 foot high walls of ficus, with their highly manicured lawns and landscaping.
- **Highly recommended:
- Stay on AIA (the ocean road), passing Mar-a-Lago on your right;
- (when the President is not in town) and return to I-95 via Southern Blvd.
- Or, better yet, continue south on A1A and enjoy a leisurely drive south along Ocean Blvd.
- You can return to I-95 at many junctures along the way, but I recommend staying on AIA to Atlantic Ave. in Delray Beach; or Palmetto Park Rd. in Boca Raton; before you turn west towards I-95. --It's a beautiful drive.
