You are cordially invited to this “out-of-the-ordinary" Day of the Dead photowalk event to challenge your Street Photography skills, as well as sharpen your urban scenery talents. You’ll be able to practice Street / Documentary Photography under various types of lighting conditions, while anticipating and executing under exciting decisive moments opportunities.
The Downtown Day of the Dead Celebration in Fort Lauderdale is a special festival that will happen on Saturday, November 1st, 2025 at and around Esplanade Park, along the Riverwalk. There will be displays of Day of the Dead costumes, performers, interesting characters, and food vendors. This celebration culminates at dusk with a spectacular Skeleton Stroll at 6:00 pm. This event runs from 3 pm to 11 pm at Esplanade Park, 400 SW 2nd Street, Fort Lauderdale... right next to the IMAX 3D Theater and Museum of Science.
Parking can be found at the Arts and Science District Garage and the Government Center Parking Garage.
We’ll meet and start our photowalk at the front of the AutoNation IMAX Theater right across the street from Esplanade Park on W. Las Olas at 4:00 PM. After we convene you can enjoy the event and leave at your convenience.
AutoNation IMAX Theater: We will meet in front of the Theater at 4 p.m. We will start at the AutoNation IMAX Theater and then you will be free to enjoy the event.
Parking: There is metered street parking and parking garages in around the area.
Photos opportunities:
This is a great opportunity for street photography, costumes, make up artists and performers.
What to bring:
Comfortable walking shoes, a moderate zoom and wide angle lens.
Things to keep in mind:
CHALLENGE - A Day of the Dead Album will be created for the event. Post three (3) of your best photographs from the event.
Submission deadline is 7 pm, Friday November 7, 2024.
A BEST photo from the meetup album will become the permanent cover for the event**.
The name of the winning photographer will also be displayed on the album cover. There will not be any honorable mentions.
