The Big London Walk - Saturday 23rd May

Details

Join us for a great day out walking through LONDON and past its biggest attractions. We'll take in Buckingham Palace, the House of Commons and the best view of Big Ben. We'll also see the London Eye, cross the Thames via the Millenium Bridge to St Paul's and go on past The Tower towards the foodie paradise of Borough Market. There's much more along the way and at the end we can go for some food and a beer in the last galleried pub in London while looking up in the sky for an alternative view of The Shard.

All of our walks to date with sister group Explorer UK (https://www.meetup.com/Explorer-UK/) have been out in the country, but there's so much to see in town I thought we could try this for a change. Also, for once, I can promise (probably) dry feet at the end. Here's The London Eye on the South Bank;

In More Detail: Meet Tom between 09:30 and 09:45am by the Wellington Arch. Tom will be there a bit early wearing his lime green hoodie. To get there travel to Hyde Park Corner Underground station on the Piccadilly Line and take exit 2, you will see the Wellington Arch when you get above ground, which is unmissable - see below!

This is a six mile walk through the best parts of Central London. There are toilet stops along the way and places to buy a snack or a coffee, but you could also bring a packed lunch if you like. We should finish in the early afternoon and will be near to London Bridge on the Northern / Jubilee Line. At the end you could spend some time exploring Borough Market or come for a drink with Tom and Louise in the pub. Cost: The Trip Cost is the £2 organisers fee. Tom is a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader (MLTE). The trip cost is non refundable and payable in cash to Tom at the start of the walk.

Picnic lunch, water, suitable walking boots/shoes and clothing including waterproof, your camera, some money for food and drink if you would like to stop in the pub at the end. Things to wear:

You must have a waterproof and other sensible clothing/footwear for a walk.
