$1 Billion Invested: What Have We Learned?

Details

Venture Capital investment in Bitcoin and Blockchain Technology startups is about to hit an impressive milestone. With nearly $1 Billion on the line now, what's next? It's been a pretty rocky ride since this burgeoning industry's trailblazers first started to take on VC funding. In just three incredibly fast-paced years there have already been some impressive feats of business displayed, while perhaps overshadowed by scandals, scams, and stigmas. Still, the bulk of the nearly $1 Billion in announced raises is just beginning to be put to work. Banks are now piling on the bandwagon, too. Heck, thirteen of them are even working together on a project!

There are some pretty crazy ideas getting funded, along some that are quite controversial and others that are relatively conventional. To many looking on with interest, it might seem like just about any idea is able to find backers. Of course, this isn't true, but what's so hot about this space that even a massive price crash, correction, and stagnation could not seem to cool off?

What types of companies do VCs pass on? How has this changed over the past three years? What lessons have been learned from the bets made thus far? Well, we're going to find out from our panelists: Brock Pierce (https://angel.co/brockpierce) of Blockchain Capital (http://blockchain.capital/), Pierre Wolff (https://www.linkedin.com/in/pierre) of Coinsilium (http://coinsilium.com/), and Terrence Yang (https://www.linkedin.com/in/terrenceyang) of Yang Ventures (http://www.yangventures.com/).
