Cyber Security in the Bitcoin Era

Details

Bitcoin and Blockchain Technology innovation have made fixing security holes a much higher priority for the Internet-connected world. Many say that Internet security is broken. This BitPanel, we'll hear from a few of the technologists and entrepreneurs who are working to fix it.

Join us on Wednesday, November 4th as we delve into the complex world of securing your data. Security has always been a major issue when it comes to sensitive data, and more recently it’s been in the news as hacks on major corporations, websites, and government agencies become more prevalent. It’s clear that current security models are broken and we need a fresh look at solutions.

As data becomes more valuable the incentives for theft increase. At this BitPanel we’ll be exploring new solutions to old problems and will feature Clef (https://getclef.com/about/) CEO Brennen Byrne (https://twitter.com/brennenbyrne), Lead Platform Engineer at BitGo Ben Chan (https://www.linkedin.com/in/bencxr), CEO of Gem Micah Winkelspecht (https://angel.co/micah-winkelspecht), and Airbitz’ very own CEO and co-founder Paul Puey (https://airbitz.co/go/author/paul/). These are some of the top minds working towards more intuitive security solutions and the the panel will be highly informative for new and experienced enthusiasts. Travis Uhrig will be moderating the event and Thomas Hunt of MAD Bitcoins! (http://www.madbitcoins.com/) will be livestreaming it.

Brennen is the cofounder and CEO of Clef (getclef.com), two factor authentication from the future. For Bitcoin to grow, normal users need access to much better security, so his focus is on making advanced security simpler and easier to use. Clef powers logins on more than 90,000 sites and The New York times described logging in with Clef as "magical" and has been recommended by usability and security experts across industries. It keeps users safe with the same public key cryptography used by Bitcoin wallets and wraps it in a mobile app that makes logging in faster and easier than ever.
