About us
Social media has completely changed how we meet people, make friends, date, stay in touch, and find communities. Some of it is great. Some of it is exhausting. And a lot of it is just… weird.
We want to talk about it.
This is a casual, thoughtful Meetup for adults ages 25–45 to talk about how we actually use social media and the internet to connect with other people.
What works for you? What doesn’t? Have you made a real friend through Reddit or Discord? Met someone through Instagram? Found a community you never would have discovered offline? Do dating apps make meeting people easier—or somehow harder? Do you ever feel surrounded by people online and still disconnected?
There’s no right answer, and this isn’t an anti-social-media group. We’re interested in the good, the bad, and everything in between.
We might talk about:
• Making friends and meeting people online
• Instagram, Reddit, Discord, dating apps, DMs, and other online spaces
• The difference between getting attention and actually feeling connected
• Loneliness, rejection, awkwardness, and feeling invisible online
• Safety, trust, boundaries, and unwanted attention
• What makes you actually want to respond to someone
• Why some online conversations turn into real relationships while most disappear
• What we wish social media did differently
You don’t need to be outgoing, an expert on social media, or have some incredible story. If you spend time online and have opinions or experiences to share, you’ll probably have something to contribute.
This isn’t a dating event, political debate, therapy session, or networking event. It’s a conversation about something most of us spend hours doing every week but rarely sit down and actually talk about.
Come meet some people, grab a drink, and tell us how social media is working—or not working—for you.
Presented by Dayoff, a social space experimenting with a simpler idea: social media built around conversations instead of followers.

Let’s Talk About Social Media
·OnlineOnlineHow is social media actually working for you?
Maybe you’ve made close friends through Reddit or Discord. Maybe you’ve met someone through Instagram or a dating app. Maybe you’ve found an online community that genuinely feels like home.
Or maybe you’re tired of scrolling, getting ignored, dealing with unwanted attention, or having dozens of online interactions that never seem to turn into actual relationships.
We want to hear about it.
We’re bringing together a small group of adults ages 25–45 for an open conversation about how we meet, talk, flirt, make friends, find communities, and build relationships online.
What’s working? What isn’t? What makes you want to respond to someone? What makes a conversation feel genuine? Why do some online connections turn into lasting relationships while so many others disappear?
We’re especially interested in bringing together people with different experiences. You don’t need to love social media—or hate it. You don’t need to have the answers. Come with your own experiences, some curiosity, and a willingness to hear how other people experience the internet differently.
This isn’t a debate about who has it harder. It’s a chance to get off our feeds for an evening and actually talk about how we use them.
Because we want to keep the conversation small enough for everyone to participate, space is limited.Apply here if you have a story you'd like to showcase:
