🌳Two Edges 11 miles Heather Walk🌸Stanage Edge🌸 Bamford Edge🌳

Details

The chosen route are gradual ascents, no steep lanes this time. This beautiful walk starts at Cutthroat Bridge and goes up onto the magnificent Stanage Edge through pretty woodland to join the spectacular Bamford Edge. The heather will be spectacular at this time of year and promises stunning views all the way.

Our route starts with an ascent across moorland to join the path which takes us onto the spectacular gritstone escarpment of Stanage Edge.
It's 458 metres at its highest point at High Neb and Crow Chin, it's the largest and most impressive of the gritstone edges
stretching for about 3.5 miles.
Stanage Edge is popular with rock climbers as you'll see dotted along the escarpment.
As the path goes along this rocky edge, the trig point at High Neb and Crow Chin comes into view, the views of Win Hill and the Kinder Plateau are stunning.
Our chosen route leaves the edge and descends to go through pretty woodland streams and pastures, eventually reaching the foot of the impressive Bamford Edge.
This overhang of gritstone overlooks the pretty Village of Bamford.
There are impressive views of the Hope Valley in all directions. After a fairly short climb, we walk along the edge among the rocky formations and a sea of beautiful purple heather, the classic view of Ladybower soon comes into view.
We follow the rocky path all the way to the end of Bamford Edge, crossing a stream along the way and eventually, it takes us all the way to Cut throat Bridge where we started our great adventure...

A fairly challenging walk in parts, with gradual ascents, a couple of short steepish ascents and descents along with rocky paths
Suitable for anyone who likes a bit of a challenge..

Catching up points as always and plenty of stops and breaks along the way

Bring a picnic lunch and plenty of water and snacks to keep you going

Toilets in the middle of the walk after we descend Stanage Edge

Walking boots are essential
trainers are not suitable, a walking pole is always helpful

As always check the weather and dress accordingly
