🌤Hathersage 9 mile Heather Walk🌸Millstone Edge🌸Padley Gorge🌸Riverside🌤

This is a beautiful varied walk through woodland, along rocky streams, rocky edges and riverside paths.
The walk starts in the Village of Hathersage ascending through woodland and across pastures up to the stunning purple heather carpeted moorlands of Over Owler Tor.

Eventually reaching the path onto the rocky Millstone Edge with spectacular views around us. There's a spectacular view point right at the end of Millstone Edge not to miss..
Coming off the Edges, the route continues across moorland and more heather moorland around Owler Tor.

Our route crosses the pretty Padley Gorge, a wooded ravine with flowing rocky streams and waterfalls of Burbage Brook. It then goes onto the Longshore Estate, a beautiful area of ancient woodland heather moorland and parkland, we heads for the cafe.
This gives us an opportunity for a toilet stop and of course our lunch stop with plenty of picnic tables.

Our chosen route rejoins the scenic Padley Gorge, a beautiful walk along an undulating rocky path with the sound of the stream rushing below.
Our route reaches the scenic Grindleford Station, there's a café and toilets for any desperate thirsts or anything else..

We then join the scenic riverside path through woodland and pastures along the River Derwent which brings us back to Hathersage..

Plenty of stops along the way to enjoy the beautiful countryside around us..

A moderate walk with a steady ascent through woodland moorland and rocky paths combined with easy walking riverside grassy paths

There's a lovely steep ascent with a rewarding view at the top to keep you on your toes..😉

Catching up points and lots of stops and breaks along the way as always, after all it is summer..

Bring a picnic lunch and plenty of snacks and water to keep you going

Walking boots are highly advised
