🌳Hathersage to Bamford 10 miles🌸Riverside🦆and🕊Woodland🌳

Details
This is a walk not to miss, varied terrain and spectacular views, through pretty villages, scenic riverside paths and beautiful woodland and meadows.
It starts from the pretty Village of Hathersage with its beautiful stone buildings and cottages.
The route leaves the village and heads acoss field tracks and open green pastures. It passes Brookfield Manor, a Grade ll listed gritstone building, parts of which date back to an original farmhouse in 1658, but underwent alterations and additions in the 1830's. Brookfield Manor was fictionalized as 'Vale Hall' in the novel 'Jane Eyre' written by Charlotte Bronte.
A little further along the route is North Lees Hall which dates back to 1594. In 1845 Charlotte Bronte visited North Lees Hall several times, it also became the inspiration for 'Thornfield Hall' in the novel 'Jane Eyre', home of the novel's hero, Edward Rochester.
Leaving this charming bit of history behind, the route continues across hillside pastures and pretty woodland with a shaded pond and little streams running beside the gritstone paths.
The route brings us into the pretty Bamford Village, this charming village is situated on the banks of the River Derwent with pretty cottages well-kept gardens and the dramatic heights of Bamford Edge towering above it.
We visit Bamford Mill crossing the River Derwent with water cascading over rocks via stepping stones and over a pretty wooden bridge.
Our chosen route goes over pastures up to the join the Thornhill Trail which goes through woodland all the way to Ladybower Bridge.
Our route doesn't go all the way to Ladybower, we leave it and ascend up along Parkin Clough to join a higher path through woodland emerging onto hilly pastures with far reaching views of Bamford Edge opposite us.
The route descends and takes us along a scenic riverside path by the Derwent through pretty woodland and meadows eventually crossing the wide River Derwent via adventurous stepping stones. On the other side, our chosen path eventually takes us back into the pretty Village of Hathersage.
A moderately undulating walk through woodland and hilly pastures with a short steepish climb up Parkin Clough, combined with pleasant walking through villages and along riverside paths
