This is a walk not to miss, varied terrain woodland, pastures, villages and hamlets.

It starts in the charming historic Village of Eyam pronounced 'eem'. Eyam, known as the Plague Village, became famous after the Black Death in 1665 - 1666. The Villagers cut themselves off from other villages to contain this deadly desease. Historic Buildings: 17th Century Eyam Hall, the church dates back to Saxon times, the oldest feature of the graveyard is the 8th Century Celtic Cross. There's a row of cottages known as the Plague Cottages.

The route leaves Eyam and heads through Riley Woods by the Riley Graves. Our route continues down the hillside to Froggatt Bridge.

Our path goes through Froggatt woods emerging on Grindleford Bridge where we take the route along Sir William Hill Road.

Our chosen route continues to the little Hamlet of Bretton. It's famed for its Barrel Inn which is said to have the best views of any Peak District public house! There are several areas of Bretton, including Nether Bretton and Bretton Clough.

Our route continues to Foolow, a
picturesque little village in the limestone uplands set around a duck pond.
The characterful old buildings are grouped around the village green with an ancient cross.
The grand Manor House and Old Hall stand away from the pretty cottages. There is a tiny church dedicated to St Hugh and a Wesleyan Chapel.

Leaving Foolow, our path follows Fields and pastures which bring us
into the Town head at Eyam finishing with a walk through the village back to the car park.
