🎉Let's welcome the New Year with a well loved walk from Tansley finishing at the Gate Inn pub to celebrate the start of the DW New Year..🎉
Our walk starts in the characterful Village of Tansley, after walking through the village, our path goes along pastures and heads for the Village of Riber and Riber Castle, the views are spectacular from the hill tops. Our path steeply descends the hillside heading towards Matlock.
The route goes along a wooded track and brings us to the 'Mini Lud's Church' which is a narrow rocky natural chasm with a mossy path running through it.
After our little adventure, we emerge into a lovely wooded area with wooden tables and beautiful views ahead of us.
Our route continues to High Tor with scenic views all the way to Matlock.
We head down to the town of Matlock and join the path up through the beautiful wooded gorge of the Lumsdale Valley.
It follows Bentley Brook through woodland to the lovely Lumsdale Falls following a rocky path to a scenic millpond.
Leaving this magical place, we head back up to Tansley where we started our walk for a welcome celebratory drink🍻at the Gate Inn.
This is fairly easy going across fields and pastures, undulating with a steepish descent from Riber Castle which can be slippery depending on the weather, a pole is useful
Walking boots are advised, as always check the weather and dress accordingly
Bring a packed lunch snacks and enough water to keep you going
