Join me for this beautiful walk along a scenic route through Dales and Meadows Riverside paths and characterful Villages as well as two Packhorse Bridges.

It starts with a scenic walk in open countryside from the characterful Okeover Bridge in Mapleton and follows the River Dove to Coldwell Bridge.

From here, our route joins the Limestone Way and takes us to the characterful Village of Thorpe which is the 'Gateway' to Lin Dale and Dove Dale.

Our route heads along grassy tracks through Lin Dale with a great view of Thorpe Cloud. Surrounded by rocky hills and lush grassy knolls with a trickling stream and lots of rabbits at certain times of the year.

The rugged path brings us to the well known Dovedale Stepping Stones, a place of beauty surrounded by rocky craggs.
After a hop across the stepping stones, our chosen route skirts around Bunster Hill with stunning views around us.

Our path emerges in the picturesque Village of Ilam where we have our picnic stop. There are toilets and a cafe as well as scenic views and plenty of benches at Ilam Hall surrounded by stunning Italianate gardens and parkland.
Ilam is a picturesque village which nestles beside the River Manifold among limestone hills.
There are pretty Alpine style cottages, a church and the river against the backdrop of Bunster Hill, Thorpe Cloud and steep pastures.

Leaving this quaint Village, we head up over Blore pastures on a scenic lane, or take the muddy riverside route through lovely mud filled farmland.. 😁

Either route takes us back to Okeover Village where the Okeover Arms awaits us..🍻

Walking boots and warm layers are essential, this is not a challenging walk, but the terrain can be slippery in parts due to limestone rocky paths..

As always check the weather and dress accordingly..

Catching up stops and breaks along the way..

Bring a picnic lunch and plenty of snacks to keep you going..

Look forward to sharing another adventure with you..
