❄️Bamford 9 mile Walk⛅️Bamford Edge⛅️ Ladybower❄️

This walk starts from the charming Village of Bamford, situated on the banks of the River Derwent with pretty cottages well-kept gardens and the dramatic heights of Bamford Edge towering above it. There are the picturesque Bamford Mills with water cascading over rocks by a pretty wooden bridge and stepping stones.

The route leaves the village via a very steep track, Bamford Clough, (not for the faint hearted) which takes us to a road, and then a steep path up onto the impressive Bamford Edge, an overhang of gritstone overlooking the Village of Bamford. The views of the Hope Valley are stunning in all directions. As we walk along, the classic view of Ladybower Reservoir comes into view.

The path leaves Bamford Edge, and descends steeply through beautiful woodland emerging near the famous 'giant plug hole' of Ladybower Reservoir at Heatherdene car park.*Note toilets available..

Our route crosses the dam wall to walk alongside Ladybower Reservoir.
We follow the reservoir path until our route goes up through the forest and emerges on an upper path with spectacular views of Bamford Edge.

The views are with us all the way back to Bamford..

A moderate walk with a steepish ascent to begin with, Bamford Clough, a tarmacked track which is said to be the steepest tarmacked track in the world..
Followed by a less steep climb onto Bamford Edge.
Once on Bamford Edge it's a fairly easy-going walk along it.

Toilets at Heatherdene car park near Ladybower Reservoir and a possible toilet in Bamford if open..

Bring a packed lunch snacks and enough water or hot drinks to keep you going, lunch time is weather dependent and finding a suitable spot

As always check the weather and dress accordingly, it's chilly so plenty of warm layers
