The next in our series of Spring Walks goes through Woodland Moorland and along rugged Edges.

It starts with the climb up Bar Lane and turns off onto an elevated path, through shrubbery moorland with Baslow edge towering above us.

Our route takes us onto the dramatic gritstone escarpment of Curbar and Froggatt Edge with stunning views and rock formations surrounded by moorland.
Our route continues through woodland and soon joins White Edge, with views across the expanse of Big Moor, and a chance to spot its famous red deer.

Our route comes off at Curbar Gap and heads across moorland to join Baslow Edge.
More fascinating rock formations can be seen, a well known large rock called the 'Eagle Stone' has been climbed by many walkers and not just.. Tradition goes the men of Baslow had to prove their worth for marriage by climbing to the top!
There's a herd of Highland Cattle roaming the gritstone edges and moors. I was lucky to see them last year, just beautiful animals.

Our route leaves Baslow Edge and joins a rocky path taking us back into Baslow to our car park.

A great walk with gentle ascents, expect uneven rocky paths..

Toilets at the start in Baslow car park

Bring a packed lunch and plenty of snacks, picnic stop and breaks along the way as always..

Walking boots are advised, a walking pole helps any ascents or descents..

As always check the weather and dress accordingly..

Look forward to sharing our next Spring adventure!
