Our walk starts from Cromford and goes through woodland and along tracks with great views.
After leaving Cromford Wharf, we head up through woodland bringing us out at Upperwood passing the Cable Cars and with beautiful views of Riber Castle on the opposite side.
Our route continues to climb up to Abraham Heights.The views below are stunning from the hilltops.
Leaving the stunning views, our scenic route goes through Matlock Dale joining the Limestone Way, which takes us into Matlock.
After a break in Matlock Park and toilet stop, our route heads up into Shining Cliffs woods and along Long Tor.
Our route emerges onto the scenic path in Upperwood with stunning of views of High Tor and Matlock Bath.
Matlock Bath has been a popular tourist attraction since the late 17th Century when the healing properties of its warm spa waters were first discovered. Access to the area was improved in the 18th Century, and by the 19th Century, Matlock Bath was the place to visit.
Our route enters woodland passing an interesting unnamed cave which is a mile long, according to locals..
The woodland walk brings us back into Cromford where it's perfect for a pub stop before we head back home..
Warm layers and walking boots are essential, as always check the weather and dress accordingly
Bring a packed lunch, snacks and drinks to keep you going until we get to our picnic spot above Abraham Heights..
