🌳Derwent Edge 9 mile Heather Walk🌸Back Tor🌸Strines Moor🌳

This walk takes in spectacular views along Derwent Edge.
Our route heads up onto Derwent Edge, a millstone grit escarpment, the highest point is Back Tor, 538 metres above sea level at the trig point.

As we walk along Derwent Edge, the views are magnificent, there are rock formations which have been named suitably, such as 'Cakes of Bread' 'Salt Cellar' 'Wheel Stones' and 'Dove Stones', just to name a few.
Before our path returns along the moors from Derwent Edge, we reach Back Tor, the highest point on Derwent Edge.

Our return route goes across moorland reaching Foxhole Carr and joins a path onto Strines Moor. This takes us to Moscar House with a short walk back to our carpark..

A fairly challenging walk in parts with gradual ascents and some slippery descents, always take your time..

Expect rocky paths and possible boggy moorland

Catching up points and breaks as always along the way

Bring a picnic lunch plenty of water and snacks to keep you going

Walking boots are essential, as well as an extra layer
a walking pole is always helpful for ascents and descents
