Let's go further and faster together - hiking, rucking, or paddleboarding (fast kayaks welcome) at a heart pumping pace over distances of 8+ miles. Our goal is to build endurance and physically challenge ourselves while also enjoying the company of like-minded, outdoors loving people. Join us on our outdoor endurance adventures!

DESCRIPTION:
The lakes are warming up so it's time to prepare for Standup Paddleboarding (SUP) season. We'll work on the basics for an hour or so in Gar Creek practicing proper hand positioning, proper form, catch and release techniques, getting back on the board after falling, and paddling for speed and endurance. People can choose to stay after our practice session and paddle along the lake shore or I might go out for a few-mile speed paddle afterwards (kayak speed). It won't be a guided paddle, but you can team up with other members if you want to do additional paddling.
NOTE: Event will be canceled if weather conditions aren't favorable.LOCATION:
We'll go to Mountain Island Lake (Latta Plantation), Gar Creek Access (Google), kayak ramp off Sample Road in Huntersville. To get to the parking lot, drive past the Raptor Center (6000 Sample Rd, Huntersville, NC) for 0.2 miles, then turn left onto a road that takes you to the parking lot at the waters edge.START TIME:
We'll meet at the kayak ramp at 8:00AM to prepare our paddleboards and be ready to put in the water by 8:30AM. Our group practice session will end about 9:30AM or longer as needed. Afterwards, we may paddle some distance as a group if amenable.
Please bring your paddleboard equipment, including your life preserver, paddle, paddleboard, sunblock, hat, water, snack/food, etc.## DISCLAIMER:

We'll meet at the Nivens Creek Landing in Tega Cay, SC. Park close to the boat ramps so it's a shorter walk from your car. You'll have to inflate your paddleboard on the asphalt and carry it.START TIME:

- Pilot Mountain 10-mile Loop Hike STRENUOUSPilot Mountain State Park, Pinnacle, NC
Let’s hike beautiful Pilot Mountain to visit The Knob! This is a STRENUOUS hike of 10 miles with 1,800 ft of elevation gain. We’ll hike at a quick overall 3 mph pace with short stops to enjoy the views and have a snack at the top. The hike will take about 4.5 hours, including breaks.
Our route is to take the Mountain Trail for 4.3 miles around the perimeter of the mountain, then right onto Grindstone Trail, then right on Ledge Spring Trail, climbing the stone stairs to Pilot Knob and Little Pinnacle Overlook where we’ll stop for a light lunch. We’ll return to the parking lot via Grindstone Trail.
Meet at 9:30 at the front of the visitor center at Pilot Mountain State Park, 1721 Pilot Knob Park Road, Pinnacle NC. We’ll start hiking no later than 9:45AM and finish around 2:30PM. Bring plenty of water and snacks and a light lunch. Only RSVP if you are comfortable with the difficulty level – see All Trails link below.
Since this event has limited openings make sure you only RSVP if you are 100% coming. If something changes and you cannot attend, update your status so someone on the waiting list has a chance to join.
