About us
"Beauty will save the world" -- Fyodor Dostoevsky
Reading should not just be an escape from the world. Reading books of eternal value should facilitate our enjoyment of nature, art and culture.
This society is devoted to the study of good and Great books written by talented authors across the Western intellectual tradition. We take our discussions beyond bookshops and cafes. Why not talk about Emerson or Jean-Jacques Rousseau while hiking the Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens? Or read through Darwin's autobiography just before an excursion to the zoo, or to the aquarium? We could even discuss Marquez' "Love in the Time of Cholera" while overlooking the Matanzas river in historic St. Augustine.
And of course we'll have plenty of meetings in bookshops and cafes.
Information about our first meeting pending. Join for more details!
