What we’re about
Welcome to the Forest Therapy Society!
Our group focuses on providing opportunities to learn and experience the practice of Nature and Forest Therapy in Australia.
What is Forest Therapy?
Forest Therapy is derived from the Japanese phrase “Shinrin-Yoku” or "forest bathing" “taking in the forest atmosphere,” —which is an evidence-based practice of immersing in nature for one’s physical and mental health and wellbeing.
Forest Therapy walks are slow, sensory and contemplative meanders in nature, crafted by qualified Forest Therapy guides, designed to engage all of your senses for a truly immersive and timeless experience. The pleasure of being guided in this way awakens our desire to renew our relationship with nature.
Over 400 international studies have shown that spending mindful, intentional time in nature can promote health and happiness.
During the three-hour guided walk, you will notice and experience the many benefits of the practice of Forest Therapy.
- These benefits include: reduced stress levels and blood pressure, strengthened immune and cardiovascular systems, boosted energy, mood, creativity and concentration, weight loss, longevity and healthier quality of life.
In essence, Forest Therapy is a preventative health initiative that enhances the health and well-being of society.
