We’ll be creating doily mandala wall decor by using vintage crochet doilies, decorating them with yarn, ribbons, & beads and reflecting on the mystical symbolism & relaxing benefits of mandalas. A crochet mandala is a beautiful and versatile piece of art which can be created using various crochet techniques, yarns, and colours. It is a circular design that often incorporates intricate patterns or motifs. Each one handmade mandala is unique and beautiful, just like you. The word “mandala” originates from the ancient Sanskrit language, meaning “circle” or “disk.” In many cultures, mandalas represent unity, balance, and harmony. The circular designs of mandalas were used as a form of meditation and spiritual guidance in many cultures. Our instructor, Jessica Johnson, collects vintage doilies & crochet mandalas and creates beautiful mandala wall decor with them. In this class, she will teach us how to attach the mandalas to a hoop and decorate using yarn, ribbon & beads. She will share common mandala symbolism found in crochet mandalas and unique ways in incorporate symbolism in your decorations. Supplies: We’ll provide a doily or crochet mandala and hoop.
