About us
The Gilded Quill is a local and virtual book club in the Seacoast region of NH that encounters 18th- and 19th-century texts.
Have you found yourself longing for the rustle of silk, the hush of candlelit parlors, or the exquisite torment of a letter left unanswered? Does your heart quicken at the turn of a finely wrought phrase, or linger over the delicate cruelties and courtships of a more mannered age? Then perhaps, dear reader, you are destined to join us in The Gilded Quill book club.
Within this most exuberant and friendly circle, we of such literary inclination explore works of the 18th and 19th centuries: literature wherein wit is sharpened to a blade, longing is stitched into every silence, and society itself seems a stage upon which fortunes rise, falter, and are redeemed.
The Gilded Quill is a fellowship both rare and invigorating, for those who love to read and discuss global literature from the Georgian, Enlightenment, Romantic, Victorian, Gothic, Transcendentalist, Gilded, Naturalist, and/or Realist literary traditions.
Should you possess a taste for the elegant and the uncanny, you will be most warmly received! Our circle awaits your arrival. We gather once a month on Zoom or in-person in the Seacoat region. Our meetings are casual and open to all.
