➡️ Talk 1: Kubernetes Admission Controller for Custom Admission Policies

We will build a simple Kubernetes Admission Controller to enforce custom admission requirements using Kubernetes Admission Webhooks. We will also look at some use cases for having custom admission policies and how to prevent security breaches using this.

Speaker: Gunjan Patel is a Cloud Architect in the Developer Relations team at Palo Alto Networks. Prior to that Gunjan has worked as a developer at Tigera, working on container networking and security projects such as Project Calico, flannel, CNI. Prior to Tigera, he has worked at Ciena, and Cisco on container orchestration, SDN, and virtualization technologies. Gunjan is part of the core team at GoBridge - an organization that helps underrepresented groups in the Go community. He is also the organizer of the Go Remote Meetup group.
Gunjan also loves carrots and explaining technical concepts using emojis.

➡️Talk 2: Talk: What in the world is a service mesh?

Dan Ciruli will talk about Google's own journey to service mesh and why they are developing Istio.

Speaker: Dan Ciruli is a product manager in Google Cloud focusing on delivering API and Services infrastructure to modern enterprises. He has spent 5 years working on modernizing services infrastructure at Google, working on internal projects, commercial products and in open source.
Dan lives with his wife and 3 children in Oakland, California. He used to write a lot of code (when he had time) and play a lot of ultimate (when he had young knees). Tries to play guitar and speak Spanish.

➡️Talk 3: Sailing Up to Layer 7 : The Benefits Of Service Meshes Like Istio

Service Mesh solutions for Kubernetes are the new black. But what are they and most importantly how can they make my Kubernetes life better? To answer this we’ll start with the basics. What they are and how do they work? From there we will go through specific security use cases and implementations using Istio in conjunction with Calico.

Speaker: Karthik Prabhakar is the Director of Solution Architecture at Tigera, where he helps customers with secure application connectivity designs leveraging various open source projects that Tigera maintains or is involved with (such as Project Calico, Flannel, CNI, Istio, etc.). Karthik has assisted in the architecture of numerous containerized and cloud infrastructure deployments at scale.
