What we’re about
The Happiness Haven is a playful, heart-centered community for people seeking joy, connection, and meaning in everyday life.
Our goal is to create a safe, welcoming space to explore gratitude, laughter, reflection, and mindful presence with just the right mix of sacred and silly.
We’re looking to gather kind humans, spiritual misfits, deep feelers, joy-seekers, and anyone who believes happiness is something we create together, not chase alone.
At our events, you can expect things like gratitude rituals, reflective prompts, laughter yoga, gentle community conversations, and the occasional sparkly celebration of life’s small magic. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we take belonging, purpose, and joy very seriously.
Come as you are. Bring your curiosity. And maybe a glitter pen.

### January Gathering: Practicing Resistance by Choosing What We Nourish
In a world that constantly demands our attention, our energy, and our outrage, resistance does not always look like pushing back. Sometimes it looks like choosing wisely.
This gathering invites us to explore resistance as a values-based practice. We will reflect on what we are no longer willing to feed with our time, our worry, or our silence, and what we are ready to actively nourish instead. Through reflection, shared wisdom, and gentle ritual, we practice discerning where our energy truly belongs. This is not about doing more. It is about doing what matters.
How to Join the Gathering:
Happiness Haven Gratitude Gatherings are hosted online to create as much accessibility as possible.
Registered participants will receive a Zoom link before the event. (Once you RSVP here on Meetup, the Zoom information will be available!).
What to Expect:
💛 Guided gratitude reflections
💬 Meaningful conversations & community connection
🎉 Moments of laughter, play, and shared joy
🌿 A welcoming space to pause, recharge, and realign

First Mondays Laughter Yoga & Sound Bath. February theme: Embodying Resilience
UUCCHC, 95 N Jefferson Street, Danville, IN, USRest. Recharge. Reset.
Doors open at 6:30pm for informal connection and community time.
Join us on the first Monday of each month for Laughter Yoga and a Sound Bath, led by our very own Kris Lionjester Ratekin aka The Giggle Gladiator, and The Honeybadger of Joy herself, Rev. Dr. Sarah Ratekin.
Beginning in January, we are opening a new monthly rhythm at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Hendricks County (Danville, IN). On the first Monday of every month, we gather for 90 intentional minutes of laughter, breath, sound, and rest. This is time set aside on purpose to begin the month feeling more connected, more grounded, and more cared for.
February's theme is Embodying Resilience. Resilience is often described as mental toughness, but true resilience lives in the mind, body and spirit. It shows up in our ability to release tension, to breathe deeply again, and to return to ourselves after stress or strain. This month’s First Monday Laughter Yoga and Sound Bath invites you to experience resilience as something you feel, not something you force.
Through shared laughter, gentle breathwork, and deep relaxation, we give our bodies space to recover and reset. No pushing. No performing. Just an opportunity to reconnect with your own steady strength and capacity to heal.
We gather to soften our shoulders, lighten our spirits, and remember that joy is not frivolous. Joy sustains us. Shared laughter helps release what we have been holding. Sound and stillness offer a way to settle back into ourselves again.
This gathering is rooted in the values we hold at The Happiness Haven. Gratitude for the bodies that carry us through our days. Connection through shared breath and shared laughter. Growth that comes from learning when to pause instead of push. Service to ourselves and one another through intentional care. And joyful presence, the simple and sacred act of being fully here together.
No yoga experience is needed. If you can breathe, you belong here. This is an invitation to practice sustainable resistance by choosing care, connection, and rest, all with a healthy dose of joy.
We keep this gathering intentionally small, with space for twenty (20) participants, so the experience stays spacious and supportive. If you feel a gentle tug toward this kind of joyful resistance, trust it and come laugh with us. We would love to begin this monthly practice together.

### February Gathering: Embodying Resilience and Letting Strength Live in the Mind, Body and Spirit
Resilience is often framed as toughness or endurance. Here, we tell a different story. This gathering centers resilience as a lived, embodied experience rather than a performance. Through breath, reflection, laughter, and grounding practices, we explore how resilience shows up when we are allowed to rest, soften, and recover. You are not required to be strong here. You are invited to be real.

March’s theme is Paying Attention.
So much of our lives pulls our attention outward. Schedules, screens, and expectations compete for our focus until we lose touch with what our bodies and hearts are quietly asking for. This month’s First Monday Laughter Yoga and Sound Bath invites us to slow down and turn our attention inward.
Through shared laughter we reconnect with presence. Through sound and stillness we practice listening without judgment or urgency. Nothing needs fixing. Nothing needs solving. This is an opportunity to notice your breath, your body, and the wisdom that lives there.
We gather to soften our shoulders, lighten our spirits, and remember that joy is not frivolous. Joy sustains us. Shared laughter helps release what we have been holding. Sound and stillness offer a way to settle back into ourselves again.
