Lake Lanier - Peninsula Hike

Details
About The Trail:
The Laurel Ridge Trail is one of the prettiest trails around! The main trail is easy hiking that offers great views of the lake and the Buford Dam.
We'll start on the main loop trail, then venture onto trails that take us onto a couple of peninsulas (water level permitting, one of these trails goes out onto an island - really cool!).
As usual, we can do a group dinner afterwards.
About The Hike:
Distance = ~8 miles
Time = Budget ~3 hours
Skill Rating = Easy (not much elevation, but we'll do a quick pace)
Pace = ~ 3 miles per hour
Special Equipment = Hiking shoes, hiking poles, as needed
Food: As usual, we'll do a five-minute stop to grab something to eat, so please bring water and lunch/snacks
Kids/Pets = No pets please (this park does not allow dogs), but children that can keep the posted pace are encouraged to attend
Meeting Time/Place: Please meet in front of the bathrooms in the parking area by the dam at the Lower Outlook by 11:50am (this is the parking area by the dam, not at lake level). If coming from downtown Cumming you access this lot by taking the last right turn BEFORE crossing the dam (it'll be the first left after you cross the dam if coming from the opposite direction. Again, it is the large parking lot you see at the base of the dam when crossing over the dam, not the one at lake level). FYI, the hike will start promptly at noon.
See you on the trail!
Charlie
