Alpine Helen Volkswanderung

$5 (hike only) OR $25 (hike + German Fest) registration fee is payable to the Alpine Helen Volksmarch Club at the event.

Last spring, I stumbled across this event on Facebook or the like and ended up doing the hike. It was really fun. I mean hiking, beer, German Food . . . who could ask for more.

Anyway, I thought I would post it to the group this year and if folks want to join me for this little trek they can. It would be great to have some Hiking League Representation.

The details:
We'll meet at Bodensee Restaurant by 9:00 AM (If you want to hike with the group, please be on time). After we signup and pay our registration fees, we'll hit the trail, which takes us through Helen and up the Unicoi to Helen Trail to the Unicoi Lodge, where we're turn around and head back. It's about 6.5 miles with around 800 feet of elevation change round trip. Though, I may push the pace a little bit, there's nothing crazy on this one and it's a great hike for beginners.

After we return to Bodensee in Helen, those that registered for the German Festival can enjoy a couple of brews and some German Food (the garlic wurst I had last year was the bomb!), while we socialize and take in the music and festivities.
