I Am Cuba (1964)

Directed by the renown Soviet film maker Mikhail Kalatozov, who’d won the Palme D’Or for The Cranes Are Flying in 1958, I Am Cuba (1964) is a window on to Cuba that looks like an art house film but feels like a documentary.
The result is a fascinating snap shot in time of an island at a pivotal moment in its history.
