What is..? a one-liner?
If you hang out with writers enough, you'll eventually hear someone talk about "killing your darlings." What exactly does that mean? "Kill your darlings," coined by Allen Ginsberg, refers to the practice of taking the best, most shiny and noticeable parts of your writing and ripping them off the page. That sentence or paragraph, or even entire character might feel very sharp and perfect, but sharp, perfect writing can turn into a cripple and weaken the rest of the work.

Join us for three writing prompts on how to first remove the best parts of your writing, then use that removal to make the whole thing a lot better.
