What is Unity Collective?
Unity Collective is a politically engaged community that brings together people with varied perspectives to foster deep conversations, build practical skills, experiment, and support one another in both personal and collective transformation. We believe in the power of diversity, empathy, and mutual aid to spark meaningful change. We aim to leave a lasting, positive legacy - one grounded in processing the past, engaging with the present, and shaping a more just future.

What does the group do?
We are a locally engaged community which meets regularly to support one another in both personal and collective transformation via critical conversation, learning and sharing practical skills, designing community service offerings, and more. We analyze and respond to the rapidly shifting political climate so that we may sustain ourselves and our neighbors. We believe that what is practiced on the small scale leads to large-scale impacts and that by transforming ourselves and our local communities, we can transform the world. Adapting to change and allowing for new ideas to be explored is built into our group process, so this list is not all inclusive; at a meeting you can expect to do one or more of these things:

  • Explore current events and personal impacts in facilitated conversations
  • Plan and organize mutual aid/community service offerings
  • Design and create art, essays, and resources for ‘zines
  • Participate in skill building and educational workshops
  • Support other local community efforts
  • Practice collective conflict transformation and grief processing
  • Play and have fun with bonding activities
  • Imagine, propose, and offer any idea which may support the pursuit of freedom/collective liberation!

How did the group start?
Unity Collective, Initially called “Kava Revolution”, first began meeting at The Karma House in April 2024. It was an idea sparked by a movement found on tik tok called “Coffee Revolution” which urged people to “come together in real life to do direct actions in their community”. The initial goal was to create a network that allows folks to trade goods/services and support each other outside of our current societal systems - a concept called mutual aid. We were especially interested in using this network to bridge division and build relationships with folks all over the political spectrum.
This was started by our Collective Catalyst (Director) Madison, who made this group a core aspect of her understudy thesis project at Naropa called “A Case for Combatting the Polycrisis with Interideological, Politically-engaged Communities via Dialogue and Mutual aid”.

`🌿 About The Karma House
The Karma House isn’t your average bar — we’re an alcohol-free kava bar and community hub in Lakewood, CO. Our space was created to bring people together through music, art, wellness, and connection. From live shows to poetry nights to wellness workshops, everything we do centers around community and creating a safe, welcoming atmosphere for all.
🥥 What is a Kava Bar?
Kava bars are unique gathering places where people come to connect and unwind without alcohol. Instead of cocktails, we serve traditional Polynesian kava — a calming root tea that has been used for centuries in the South Pacific for relaxation, stress relief, and social connection.
🍵 What is Kava?
Kava is made from the root of the Piper methysticum plant. It has gentle, grounding effects that can help calm the body and quiet the mind, making it perfect for relaxing, connecting, and enjoying good company. At The Karma House, we prepare our shells of kava with care and community in mind — it’s more than a drink, it’s a ritual of connection.
