About us
The group meets monthly on Sundays in Liverpool city centre and is for people interested in writing.
Most attendees write prose fiction - long and short - but we also have writers who submit screenplays, plays, autobiographical pieces and poetry for the group to read and discuss.
We are a friendly and relaxed bunch who are here to support our fellow writers' journeys, rather than offer harsh critique.
If you are just getting started with writing, if you already write and release independently, if you are seeking to be commercially published (or if you already are!) then you are most welcome in this group.
We usually meet at the Kabin at Kabannas, Mathew Street in the cavern quarter. Occasionally, some of the very varied stories and works that are shared contain mature themes.

Laid Back Writers April 2026
Kabin at Kabannas Liverpool, 27 Mathew Street, Kabannas, L2 6RE, Liverpool, GBThe April 2026 Liverpool Laid-Back Writers Meeting will be on Sunday 19th April at 12 noon to 3pm. Afterwards, anyone interested can stay on for further drinks and a chat.
This event will be held in the downstairs area in Kabin at Kabannas on Mathew St in the Cavern quarter. The Kabin are no longer serving breakfasts, but you can order pizza or grab a drink at the bar.
Submissions of up to 1500 words are invited. Either a bespoke story or an excerpt of your current work. I'd suggest posting a comment in the event chat with a view-only Google documents link (docs.google.com) and sharing set to 'anyone with the link', so that I can post a message notifying the links to the attendees to read by Sunday 12th April.
