What we’re about
This is for the queers who love slow hikes and long conversations, chill social gatherings in quiet spaces, and fun activities not centered around alcohol. We care deeply about our communities, which means we also show up to volunteer and organize around important issues.
Each month, we will typically host one hike and one social gathering. Other meetups will be hosted ad hoc.
Why you should join us:
- You love the outdoors, queer community, and meeting new friends
- You are looking for meaningful connections
- You want a more laid back approach to exploring Colorado
Our shared values:
This is a space for all members of the queer community, no matter how new you are to embracing your queerness. You are welcome here. We value kindness, empathy, and curiosity.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why lazy?
A: Because we thought it was funny :) It’s also in contrast to the more extreme type 2 fun that dominates a lot of outdoor groups in Colorado. This group focuses on type 1 fun exclusively.
Q: Why is there a membership fee?
A: Meetup charges us a fee to organize events, and this is how we share costs. A membership fee also keeps the group small with more active participants, which we prefer.
Q: What if I’m new to CO or new to hiking?
A: Google is your best friend, but the main thing to be aware of is that the weather changes quickly in the mountains, so always prepare like it’s going to be colder than you expect. Dress in layers, bring water and a snack, and wear the right shoes for the season. Feral and Out and Back Gear are great stores to find used hiking gear.
Q: Will there be hot chocolate at the end of the hike?
A: We will try. Have we ever managed in the past four years to bring all the necessary ingredients to make that happen? Not yet. This could be our year.
