What we’re about

“Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few are to be chewed and digested”- Francis Bacon
Reading psychology books is great. Discussing them is even better!
Fascinated by the human mind?
Worried about the toxicity of the modern world?
Concerned by the challenge of finding and sustaining love?
Determined to heal your past, and turn your wounds to wisdom?
If so, join the London Psychology Reading Group at Clapham Library on the last Sunday of the month.
The London Psychology Reading Group gets to the heart of psychology and personal development, selecting books that inspire, motivate and challenge us to reflect on our perception of who we are.
No need to have a psychology degree or be an academic! We're a non-pretentious easygoing bunch keen to read, share, and reflect philosophically on our experiences.
Example Books
• Malcolm Gladwell – Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking • Gary Chapman - 5 Love languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts • Daniel Kahneman – Thinking, Fast and Slow • Robert Cialdini – Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion • Geoffrey Miller - Spent: Sex, Evolution, and Consumer Behavior • Timothy Ferris - The 4-Hour Work Week • Richard Dawkin – Unweaving the Rainbow • Eckhart Tolle – The Power of Now
Our Goal
The overarching aim is to build a friendly community of psychology book lovers. The group is a friendly refuge where members share their thoughts and engage in stimulating conversation.
How it Works
Each month all members get the opportunity to read our chosen book. At the beginning of the session, we circulate a set of questions and the discussion starts!

# Revenge of the Tipping Point: Overstories, Superspreaders and the Rise of Social Engineering
Twenty-five years after the publication of his groundbreaking first book, Malcolm Gladwell returns with a brand new volume that reframes the lessons of The Tipping Point in a startling and revealing light
What does the heartbreaking fate of the cheetah tell us about the way we raise our children? Why do elite universities care so much about sports? What is the Magic Third, and what does it mean for racial harmony? In this provocative new work, Malcolm Gladwell returns to the subject of social epidemics and tipping points, this time with the aim of explaining the dark side of contagious phenomena.
Through a series of riveting stories, Gladwell traces the rise of a new and troubling form of social engineering. He takes us to the streets of Los Angeles to meet the world's most successful bank robbers, rediscovers a forgotten television show from the 1970s that changed the world, visits the site of a historic experiment on a tiny cul-de-sac in northern California, and offers an alternate history of two of the biggest epidemics of our day: COVID and the opioid crisis.
Revenge of the Tipping Point is Gladwell's most personal book yet. With his characteristic mix of storytelling and social science, he offers a guide to making sense of the contagions of the modern world. It's time we took tipping points seriously
