What we’re about
Thank you for your interest in the group. My name is Richard and I am the new organizer. Others are certainly welcome to help organize the group. I will be scheduling meetups shortly. I intend to have weekday and weekend rides. There will be a mix of road, urban, and off-road rides. From local areas to destinations further away. I am looking to have fun and meet some great people. All experience levels are welcome and encouraged to attend. Most, if not all of the rides will be no drop with no one being left behind. The only rule will be to follow proper etiquette while riding in a group. I want to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience.

See all- We are Thinking of Trail Riding in NY in July,480 miles,10 trails-do all or partHorseshoe Falls (USA) Niagara falls, Niagara Falls, NY
- Kevin and I are looking at doing the 360 mile Erie Canal Trail (NY) and others that connect to it during July. We plan to stay in hotels. We plan to carry 2- or 3-days extra kits in a backpack in addition to one we wear, and do laundry every 3 days or 4 days.
- We are starting in Buffalo NY / Ft Lee Canada July 4th and end in Albany the 11th. If you want to park in Albany like we do take train then to Buffalo and bike back to car. You may do all or part.
- Best guess is we will do 480 miles over 8 biking days so average 60 miles a day. Paul likes to roll at 12 to 13, especially since a lot of it is crushed limestone. That means we will be riding about 4.5 to 6 hours a day. Kevin may be open to going faster. Paul likes to kayak and canoe too where possible. If we leave hotels at 9 or 10 am you can take all day to get to next one. If distance is too short you will be there 3 or 4 hours before check in. Our experience is you get stronger during the week.
3 A) About the Route 360 miles
Most of the trail follows canal and rail corridors and is nearly level with 1% average grade. A few steeper grades and hill climbs are in the Mohawk Valley section on eastern half. Large sections of the trail are surfaced in stone dust from crushed limestone. A range of bike types can be used effectively on the trail, including mountain and hybrid bikes, as well as road bikes equipped with wider tires (28 mm or more recommended).
