About us
The Music Mix is an event for music lovers of all kind, and aims to appeal to both musicians, aspiring musicians as well as members of general public with no music ability whatsoever, bringing a diverse range of people together to appreciate music.
Our jam session works in a different way to most open mic events in the city, in that it prioritizes facilitating beginners/intermediate musicians to get some experience playing with others and enjoy the process of collaboratively making music. Experienced musicians are certainly welcome, but encouraged to do their best to teach and help nurture some of the newer musicians at the event.
Format
The Music Mix is all about fostering connection through music. Our jams are generally based around freeflow improvisation and welcoming people of all levels of music ability.
Prior to your first jamming session, you are encouraged to contact the main organizer (Renee R.) to suggest some songs you would like to sing/play an instrument on. You are also free to come observe and see whether jamming is right for you.

Do you love music? Are you a singer or musician looking for a friendly place to play and meet other musicians? Or do you just want to unwind with people who love all things related to music?
The Wildcard Jam is an open jam night hosted by The Wildcards at The Aftermath, a live music bar in Central. If you've never tried a jam session, it's an excellent way to build confidence and creativity in a relaxing and supportive environment. Pick a song, grab the mic or an instrument, and play it your way: feel free to change up songs into different genres or just try out new things . Whether you’ve been playing for years or you’re just starting out, you’re welcome here.

- Requests close Sunday 15 November at 11:59 PM
- Advance requests take priority. Walk-ins can sign up at the door on the night and are added as time allows.
What to expect
- Band-led jamming: Members of The Wildcards run the session, back performers, and make sure everyone who wants a turn gets one. It’s beginner-friendly, so ask us anything.
- Instruments provided: Guitar, bass, keyboard, drums and microphones are all set up. You’re welcome to bring your own instrument too.
- Instrument rotation: Swap instruments during the night and try something new.
- Free jamming: If time allows, we’ll open it up to any other songs you want to play.
No pressure to perform
You don’t have to get on stage. If you love live music and want to see how a jam works (and have a drink with us), that’s reason enough to come.Looking to play a short set?
