What we’re about
The Music Mix is an event for music lovers of all kind, and aims to appeal to both musicians, aspiring musicians as well as members of general public with no music ability whatsoever, bringing a diverse range of people together to appreciate music.
Our jam session works in a different way to most open mic events in the city, in that it aims to help beginners/intermediate musicians to get some experience playing with others and enjoy the process of collaboratively making music. Experienced musicians are certainly welcome, but encouraged to do their best to teach and help nurture some of the newer musicians at the event.
Format
Every month we will select 5 "setlist songs" which will be posted on the meetup page, and attendees are encourage to learn how to perform these songs, so that as many people as possible can join in with the music performance.
Of course there will be plenty of time for freeflow jamming and for attendees performing their own songs.
Finally, there will be coordinated improvisation, where we attempt to create a new song on the spot with the attendees present.
