Psychedelic Professionals Meet: DENVER
Details
Psychedelic Professionals Meetup Groups are in Boulder, Denver, and Fort Collins! Let's keep Colorado on the leading edge of psychedelic medicine work by coming together in community to learn, share, and grow. Each Psychedelic Professionals Meetup Group starts with an informative topic relevant to research, practice, policy, or activism around psychedelic medicines, followed by open discussion and an opportunity to connect with like-minded others.
For February, we are excited to welcome special guests and Nowak Society friends, Dori Lewis and Casara Andre!
As psychedelic use and facilitation expand across therapeutic, ceremonial, and community contexts, animal safety and animal consent are emerging as critical and often overlooked issues. Addressing these concerns calls for greater interspecies awareness and conscious animal guardianship within human-use psychedelic communities.
Companion animals, service animals, therapy animals, and other animal dependents are increasingly exposed—directly and indirectly—to human psychedelic use. Altered human states, chaotic or unfamiliar sensory environments, emotional dysregulation, and the risk of accidental ingestion or contact with psychoactive substances present real and growing risks to animal wellbeing as human interest in psychedelics expands.
This community discussion offers a grounded, evidence-informed introduction to animal safety, stress physiology, and ethical responsibility in psychedelic spaces. Designed for psychonauts, facilitators, sitters, guides, and animal-loving community members, the session emphasizes harm-reduction practices, trauma-informed animal care principles, and recognition of stress-related physical and psychological injuries in animals. Participants will be offered practical, actionable strategies to identify risk and prevent harm.
Suggested donation of $10, payable at the door. Door fee goes toward paying for the rented venue and supporting the non-profit work of The Nowak Society. If you have ideas for topics or presentations for these meetup groups or would like to be more involved, please contact us!
Finally, if you have a brochure, flyer or business card you want to display, please bring them! We kindly request that anything advertised is legal and aboveboard, but otherwise we're happy to make space for you to share your offerings with the larger community.
