## Being Human #2: Whose Life Are You Living?
### Career, Love & the Scripts We Inherit
We spend enormous energy trying to build a good career, find the right relationship and create a life that feels successful.
But there is a more uncomfortable question:
### Who decided what “a good life” should look like in the first place?
Family. Culture. School. Social media. Friends. Past relationships. Fear. Comparison.
Long before we consciously chose anything, we absorbed ideas about the career we should have, the partner we should want, how successful we should become — and even when we should have figured it all out.
So this edition of Being Human asks:
> How much of the life we're pursuing is genuinely ours — and how much are we simply following inherited scripts?
### What we'll explore
We’ll look especially at two areas where conditioning becomes very real:
Career & success
Are you pursuing work that matters to you — or status, security and approval?
If nobody could see your title, salary or LinkedIn profile, what would you still want?
Love & relationships
What have you learned a “successful relationship” is supposed to look like?
How much of what we seek comes from genuine desire — and how much from fear, loneliness, comparison or expectation?
And rather than immediately trying to “fix” ourselves, we'll bring in something increasingly central to the Being Human series:
### Awareness before action.
Can we notice an inherited belief or automatic reaction without immediately obeying it, judging it or replacing it with another belief?
Sometimes seeing clearly may already change our relationship with what we see.
### What you'll leave with
By the end of the afternoon, you'll hopefully have:
- identified one important script influencing your career or relationships;
- understood more clearly where it may have come from;
- separated, even slightly, what you genuinely want from what you've learned to want;
- explored your experience with people who may see life very differently;
- and chosen one small observation or experiment to carry into the following week.
For those who joined Being Human #1, this is the natural next step. We explored conditioning and limiting beliefs, formed small accountability groups and began experimenting with change.
Now we're asking an even more fundamental question:
> Before becoming better at achieving the outcome — is it actually an outcome you want?
And if you missed the first session, absolutely no problem. Each Being Human gathering stands on its own.
### Who is this for?
For curious people interested in questions around:
career, relationships, psychology, mindfulness, philosophy, personal growth and how we actually want to live.
You don't need to know any philosophers, have your life figured out, or arrive with an answer.
Just bring curiosity and a willingness to listen as openly as you speak.
Expect reflection, conversations in pairs and small groups, a facilitated whole-room forum and plenty of opportunity to actually meet the people around you.
📵 And as before, we'll invite everyone to put their phones away for the heart of the session.
Not because technology is bad.
Just because sometimes the first requirement for seeing clearly is simply paying attention.
### Being Human
Big questions. Real conversations. Phones down. Humans present.
Come alone if you like — many people do.
