Making Biochar

Details

Our friends over at Washtenaw Permaculture have invited us to their event at Dawn Farm and we'd love to see Queer Outdoors representation there! A few of us folks who run TQO events will be in attendance, because we are absolute plant nerds.

Check out the details below:

Join us as we experiment with making biochar at Dawn Farm!

We'll be trialing the cone pit method out in our 8-acre food forest.

We'll meet at the pavilion for the first 10 minutes, briefly learn about biochar, then we'll head out to the field to start playing with fire...

We'll be doing the complete process so it may take longer than the two hours allotted to get the finished product. Feel free to stay till the end.

Bring gloves, boots, and whatever else is necessary for the weather. If we end up with extra biochar you'll be able to take some home if you bring a container.

In case of inclement weather we'll reschedule for the following weekend.
