Esopus Meadows Lighthouse Kayak Trip on the Hudson River
Details
Hudson River Lighthouse Series
Maid of the Meadows, Esopus Meadows Lighthouse is the destination, at least for starters. The current prediction are very strong with a 1.33kt (10am) current carrying us northward.
We launch by 10:00am sharp. Be sure to arrive early enough to get your boat unlimbered and your kit squared away. The Store will be open prior with the doors closing at 8:30am in case there’s a last minute thing you need. The Store will be open later after we return, just in case. 😄
With slack current at 11:30 we will go Northward past the Vanderbilt Estate, Esopus Island, side trip up Black Creek out to a Esopus Meadows Lighthouse and then we can decide where to go from there. The Landsman Kill waterfalls might be worthy before heading to Mills Mansion for a lunch stop. Trip length is estimated to be 12-16 miles depending on side trips.
Paddle garb of the day will be weather dependent but it is still April so 3mm neoprene equiv. with shell layer or Drysuit is mandatory along with worn pfd, sprayskirt, self rescue kit, personal provisions, hydration and touring kayak with front/rear bulkheads/hatches mandatory.
This event is to benefit The operationdeepblue.org 2026 Expedition and minimum donation of $30 per person is requested payable to ;
