Understanding Latin Rhythms - A Lecture and Discussion.
Explore, Learn, Feel the Rhythm! Gain insight into the rhythms that move us all!
For years students have asked me how do I find beat one in the music or what do you mean when you say Waltz is 3/4 or 6/8 time? I do my best, but since I am not a professional musician I thought it would be fun and helpful to ask a real pro. I have invited Freddie Colon from our local Mambo Kings band to come to the ballroom where he will present a lecture on understanding Latin Rhythms. I have heard Freddie play many times in Rochester at different venues and his band is always quality sound and high energy!
Freddie has performed with Aretha Franklin, Tito Puente, Soneros Del Barrio, Johnny Rivera, El Cano and Paquito Acosta. He has taught percussion at The Eastman School Of Music's Community Education Division and is much in demand as a percussion clinician in the Rochester Area. Freddie is one of Rochester's jewels, please don't miss this lecture!
Open to the public - all are welcome: dancers, musicians, music lovers!
