Maximizing Freshness, Minimizing Food Waste
Location not specified yetJust in “thyme” for Earth Day, Tonia Scherer from Seed St. Louis will be leading a class at Fresh Thyme Market at the St. Peters location on Maximizing Freshness and Minimizing Food Waste!
Come out and hear about how you can use strategic meal prepping, smart shopping, and food storage techniques to minimize your food waste. You will also receive food waste-reducing recipes along with information on small-scale vermicomposting to further minimize your food waste in any indoor space. After the class, you can pick up one of Seed St. Louis’ free planting calendars and learn how Seed supports local and community food gardens in the St. Louis region. (We will also be teaching this class at the St. Peters Fresh Thyme location on April 11th! Sign up here for that class.)

School Garden Workshop: Summer Maintenance for Fall Learning
Bell Garden, 3841 Bell Avenue, Saint Louis, MO, USThe school garden can be an incredibly useful teaching tool when educators are adequately supported in planning and maintaining this living laboratory. This hands-on workshop will assist school garden leaders and school community members in building capacity and strong summer maintenance plans to support garden-based learning in the fall and beyond. Learn how to support your school garden by drafting sensible planting plans, task lists, and work schedules, as well as brainstorming community assets and engagement strategies.
Coffee, tea, and light brunchy snacks provided. Shareables welcome, but not required!

Summer Seedling Sale
Location not specified yetGet your summer seedlings at our annual Summer Seedling Sale! All of our summer vegetable seedlings are sold as individual plants for $3.50 each, and many of them are winners from our variety trials. Perennials will be $6.00, and sets of sweet potato slips will be $5.00. We will also have seed packets and Seed St. Louis t-shirts for sale.
The seedlings available will be eggplant, sweet peppers, tomatoes, two varieties of basil, and perennials including rhubarb, sea kale, lavender, and more. A complete list of the seedlings is on our website at seedstl.org/plant-sales/.

Successful Weed Management

In this class, we will cover our favorite ways to effectively and efficiently fight weeds, including techniques of garden and soil management to reduce weeds and our favorite tools for weeding to make the task fast, painless, and reduce weeds next year. After we demonstrate the tools, you'll have the opportunity to try them out yourselves.
