More information coming soon on our website!
~ *Bok Choy 'Joi Choi': This bok choy, which we are offering for the first time, was one of the winners of our bok choy variety trial! It is a large bok choy with thick, succulent white stems.
~ *Bok Choy 'Chun Mei': Another winner from our variety trials, this bok choy is a bit smaller than Joi Choi and has green stems. Both bok choys are heat tolerant.
~ *Broccoli 'Burgundy': In our variety trials, this sprouting broccoli produced its purple main head by May 20, less than 60 days after planting. Lots of side shoots followed that had bite-size florets. This broccoli is a little unusual since the stems are just as delicious as the florets!
~ Broccoli ‘Castle Dome’*: The second broccoli winner of our variety trials produced a 7-8″ head by May 20, and we had sizeable 2″ diameter side shoots just 18 days later! We also like that, while this variety produces a normal-size head, the plant itself is much smaller than your typical broccoli.
~ Cabbage 'Caraflex': This variety is an old favorite of ours with its tender leaves and sweet flavor. It can also be stored for up to 10 weeks! This variety produces a cone-shaped head.
~ Cabbage 'Omero': This heat-resistant cabbage has a medium-to-large size head with tightly wrapped leaves that make it difficult for pests to penetrate.
~ *Cauliflower ‘Minuteman’: Cauliflower is another vegetable that is incredibly difficult to grow here in our climate. This variety blew all of the others out of the water in our variety trials! It’s very heat-tolerant and still had a head of cauliflower late in the season that hadn’t bolted or become spicy.
~ Collards ‘Southern Georgia’: This widely adapted variety holds up well in our climate, producing large, dark green leaves. It can withstand those erratic shifts in temperature we know all too well here in St. Louis.
~ Kale ‘Black Jack’: This compact kale is a Lacinato or Dino type kale that doesn’t take up as much space.
~ Kohlrabi ‘Azur Star’: This variety is deep purple in color and has a sweet, peppery flavor. Its zany alien-like shape makes it a fun one to grow in the garden and is great raw, cooked, and pickled!
~ Lettuce ‘Heat Tolerant Variety Pack’: This variety pack includes both green and red lettuces that range from looseleaf to bibb.
~ Lettuce 'Salanova': It is a red butterhead-type lettuce that is very heat-resistant with tender spoon-shaped leaves with great flavor.
~ *Misome ‘Choho’ (Tatsoi Hybrid): While it is a hybrid of a Japanese mustard spinach and Tatsoi, it more closely resembles a Tatsoi. It has been cultivated to be both heat and bolt tolerant so it’s a great choice for our region.
~ Tokyo Behana (Chinese Cabbage) NEW: A non-heading Chinese cabbage that has buttery leaves with a crunchy rib and mild flavor which can be eaten raw or cooked. Leaves can be harvested individually as you need them, or all at once.
