Staging Foundationalism, 2

The first meeting got us started in discussing whether knowledge should be defined as justified true belief. The concepts of justification, evidence, truth, fact, correspondence, belief, content, and knowledge were broadly explored. This meeting focuses on the motivation(s) for foundationalism

A problem in epistemology concerns how to justify what one knows. For any claim whatever, one can always ask, "Why do I believe that?" And if one fails to provide a justification, one should not accept that belief as knowledge. The problem, however, is methodological. Is there an operational procedure of justification that is sufficient to guarantee a belief's status as knowledge? And how does one know that?

We will discuss one candidate claiming to answer the problem of justification. The meeting aims simply to understand the theory foundationalism. But if we have some time left over, we can begin criticizing it.
