Automated Office Entrance Theme Music with Python

Python + OpenCV + Sonos API = Office Entrance Theme Music

Scott Lobdell will present a hobbyist project that was integrated at Hearsay Social's headquarters by using existing resources and some freely available libraries in Python. Every engineer at Hearsay has the freedom to choose a theme song that will play across the building's Sonos speakers upon their illustrious entrance to the office based on an automated facial recognition system. This project leverages the SoCo Sonos API, the OpenCV library, gPhoto2 API, and Boost.Python.

Speaker Bio:

Scott Lobdell transitioned from the Army to Hearsay Social in May of 2013 and is also scheduled to talk at PyCon 2014 for a robotics project. Hearsay Social is a SaaS company and the leader in social business for the financial services industry.

Schedule:

5:30pm - Check in and socialize. There will be some food and drinks provided by Hearsay Social!

6:15pm - Lightning talks if we have any

6:30pm - Scott's talk

7:15pm - QA with Scott

7:30pm - Time to head home
