Curry Senior Center
The mission is to provide services to seniors that promote independent living while maintaining their dignity and self-esteem. In the heart of San Francisco, Curry has been a leader and a lifeline to seniors for more than 40 years. Curry Senior Center serves breakfast to about 135 seniors and lunch to 170.
Tasks
We will set up Bingo starting at 10 AM sharp. Please bring at least 10 small prizes (hygiene items, key chains, healthy snack, can goods, etc.) to hand out to the seniors. Lunch prep will start around 10:30 AM and will commence at 11 AM until noon then tidy up the dining room. You may want to have breakfast or a light snack beforehand. After the event we will head out and get some food and drinks of our own. We will surely be hungry by then!
Safety
It is extremely important to maintain a high standard of cleanliness when we handle the food. All volunteers must be 15 years or older. If you are between the ages 15 and 17, then you must have adult supervision.
Dress appropriately in close-toed shoes, shirts with sleeves (no tank tops), pants that cover the full leg, and that you don’t mind getting dirty.
Suit up! Take an apron, hairnet, and gloves from the cabinet.
Wash your hands with soap and warm water and replace your gloves every time you use the restroom, shake someone’s hand, eat lunch, or switch from food preparation to cleaning.
If you are sick or not feeling well, STAY HOME!
